For years many have marched along with the belief that practice makes perfect. Yet, After endless hours, day’s ,weeks and months of dedicated practice they remain far from perfect. It is truly sad when faced with the reality that invested time has not amassed  to the smallest fraction of  goal obtainment. Perhaps it is because such a goal is unobtainable.

Practice will never culminate in perfection.  Practice does not make perfect.

It is  impossible to be perfect at anything. The state of being perfect means a total absences of fault or flaws. Thus, perfection is  not achievable. Even those who have trained or learned for years and achieved a level of mastery make mistakes.  If your goal is to reach a state of perfection; you will be disappointed.

However, practice does make permanent.

What we practice continually becomes a solid skill or talent. One can practice to the  point of automating the task.  At this point, the point of automacity, a skill can be accomplished with the eyes closed. That skill becomes second nature.  Yet, this does not absolve that individual of making a mistake.

To be successful one cannot simply practice, but practice the right way. 

There are several ways to learn or improve upon a skill. There is a wrong way and there is a right way. Practicing the wrong way will render a result, but not the one you are looking for. Therefore, when building a skill set make sure that you are practicing the right way.

Targeted practice is important.

You must target the right areas for growth. You must understand the best technique for  reaching the target. Not ever task renders one proficient at a desired skill.  One must find  what he or she needs to know  in order to grow. Then, take action on that knowledge. Lastly, do not give up. Be relentless.

To fail to target is to plan to fail.

1.  Practice does not make perfect (no one ever reaches a sate of perfection)

3. The desired results only come when you practice the right things, the right way (targeted practice), every day

All things take time.

Seeds germinate over time resulting in a harvest. The growth process is rarely evident. All things must be nourished before they grow to full bloom.  Nourishing for growth is a timely exercise.  There will be times, when despite your best efforts  and timely commitment,  it appears if nothing is happening. It is easy to give up, especially when one cannot see physical proof of progress or growth.

Just because you can’t see it does not mean it’s not happening.

When a baby develops in the womb the mother cannot see the developing form. She cannot pinpoint the exact moment when the heart has fully developed and begun to beat, or the brain, or limbs gain full functionality.  She must simply trust the process. Although she may not see it, it is occurring every second,  minute, and hour.Cells are replicating and growth is taking place. It is her nourishment that is catalyzing the process. She cannot simply cease to nourish herself although there is no evidence of growth or the benefit of her nourishment.

Don’t Rush 

You simply can not rush the process. Things happen in their own time. When one rushes birth the offspring is often born pre-mature. That new birth cannot sustain itself on its own. The odds of survival decrease significantly. One must be patient with the process to ensure a beautiful and glorious birth . This does not mean remaining stagnant. It simply means to continue to nourish and develop that within until the season for fulfillment has come. Many times people do not get the things they most desire because either they are not ready for them or it  is simply not their time.

Developing Patience

Patience is an attribute that  many people lack or only have in small doses. Like any other skill, attribute, or character trait, and patience can be developed. Anything can be developed with deliberate attentiveness and practice.

Learn to be patient in small things. Remember, one cannot be entrusted with bigger things until they have gained mastery of the small. It will take time to develop patience. However, it is an attribute worth fostering and developing.

Attitude is everything

Attitude impacts how one internalize issues, how one see’s the world, and interacts with the world. Your attitude is an outward manifestation of the intrinsic environment. What is built up on the inside must have an outlet. This is displayed through your attitude. Attitude determines behaviors. Behaviors result in actions, which determine success or failure.

Your attitude will always determine your altitude

One must learn to  craft a positive attitude.

A positive attitude will carry one a long way. Those who have positive attitudes tend to act and react in positive manners. They tend to display greater enthusiasm, commitment, passion, and outlook. They tend to see the benefits and opportunities. They are people of purpose, people who choose to perform acts of kindness, temperance, humility, patience, and generosity. These are achievers because they are able to frame their attitude and align their behaviors to do their best and be their best despite circumstances

Those with negative attitudes tend to be prone to boredom, complacency, dissatisfaction, are non-committed, narrow-minded, and possessors of myopic vision.

A great deal of what occurs in the world we create.

Boredom, complacency, dissatisfaction, non-commitment, and the like, result from how one views the world, or that individual’s failure to alter circumstances.

This is why two may grow in the same environment, yet diverge on very different paths.

Those who have negative attitudes tend to focus on mistakes, losses,  disadvantages,  the inopportune, and  inequities of life. They are people of status-quo and are never quite  fulfilled.

When one changes how they think they begin to transform their internal environment. With these changes come a change in attitude. Your behaviors will align.

To change your attitude and thus your chance at fulfillment you must simply do one thing.

Change your input.

Your output is in direct variation to your input. However, no can change you, but you.

If you want to be more optimistic, surround yourself with positivism. If you want to bear greater patience, surround yourself with patient people, immerse yourself in books and mediums that teach patience.

you can not do it alone. 

The road to success is often a long and cumbersome journey. Anything worth building will take time and effort. There will be moments when you lose sight of what’s important. There will be times when giving up seems best. It is at these times that you need that extra push. That is what a support system is for.

A support system  is defined as, ” a network of people who provide an individual with practical or emotional support.” You hand select a team, an individual, or build a system of things  to push you above and beyond  in those moments of pain, in order to maintain.

Finding and building that system of support is a necessary step on your path to success.

Find people who will:

• Tell you the truth
• inspire you
• Want you to succeed
• who are strong in character

Find like-minded people who also desire to succeed.

Stay away from people who are

• pessimistic
• Wish to coddle you
• procrastinators
• Deceitful
• Gossipers
• un-disciplined

Undeterred belief  and determined spirit  fuels the feet and powers the energy to continue across the finish line. you will need people who will direct your gaze upward when all around you seems bleak.

Take your time selecting the right people.

You may choose a team of people with desired characteristic or just one. If you choose one  you can make that individual your accountability partner.

An accountability partner is one who will hold your feet to the fire; an individual that will trek with you on your journey, motivate  you, give you much need encouragement, a push, and the cold hard truth when needed.

There are some who do not have a group of people or one person they can trust. In the event that you have no one you still have an option.

Create your very own inspiration guide.

In moments when you are most motivated collect inspiring videos, excerpts from  books, audio tapes, quotes, inspiring images, self-talk film frames. Develop your own self-talk series on CD or video.

When you are at your breaking point, frustrated, tired, overwhelmed, or discouraged set a personal date and pull out your inspiration guide  and fill your mind with positivism. Connect with those things that will build  you up and breathe life back into your goal or mission.

In financial terms  net worth is defined as “The total value of all assets in excess of one’s liabilities”.http://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/networth.asp   The more you own, the greater your value. This concept does not merely apply to financial assets but is also applicable to your value as an individual.

Assets

An asset is nothing more than a “useful or desirable thing or quality.”  http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/asset

The accumulation of these things (assets), tangible or intangible, are determinants of your value to the external world, whether it be friends, family, significant others, or employs. Your net worth is the total value of all of those assets.

Everyone has value. Every individual has a bank of assets they have ascertained (skills, education, character, etc..) . However, some have ascertained more in the way of  such assets than others, thus appearing more desirable or marketable than their counterparts. Your goal is always to increase your net worth (your value).

Remember, the world is choked full of people who are vying for the same material achievements. You must constantly seek to build and improve on your asset portfolio (learn new skills, increase education, perfect your gifts). When you fail to move or improve you lose.

Always know  your net worth

Often how one view his or her net-worth is a direct reflection of self-worth. How you see yourself will determine how the world sees you. Consistently commit to develop self-worth. “When  your self-worth goes up, your net worth goes up with it.” – Mark Victor Hansen

Never give the power of valuation to others. Never let anyone tell you what you are worth. Letting people determine your valuation  is a recipe for failure. Many will devalue you every time.

There are many attributes, capabilities, and tools that determine an individuals human potential, desirability,  and/or marketability.  Each individual should know their capabilities, skill sets, level of intellect, subject matter knowledge, gifts, talents, level of competence, etc… Every person should be able to concretely define those things  that create value in them.

If you don’t know begin by creating an asset inventory.

Stay True

Be accurate in  your assessment. Never over inflate your worth. One cannot build upon illogical  ideologies and misconceptions.  You have to see yourself clearly. Honesty is imperative. Before you can build for growth and improvement you must be aware of where you stand. Overreaching and dishonesty is a liability never an asset.
