  • Expand your success potential

    January 27th, 2019

Throughout life, we constantly reach to achieve, whether it be to accomplish some small daily task or more larger defined goals. Meaning, once one goal has been reached then we proceed to the next one.

Reaching for success is a perpetual exercise

Thus, we stand to gain the best out of life by setting ourselves up for perpetual success

    As Cardone author of  The 10x Rule (2011) suggests;

“Your focus should be on the kind of success that build’s upon itself that which is perpetual and doesn’t happen only one time” (Cardone 25).

Surely, no one desires to be a one-time success.

Perpetual success means developing habits and thinking patterns that support such success.

“This isn’t about attaining one goal one time but rather about what one can persist in creating” (Cardone 25).

Thus, fine-tuning your focus is one of the most significant factors to becoming perpetually successful.

In whatever you set in your sights be tenacious in achieving it.

“The man who succeeds above his fellow is the one who, early in life, clearly discerns his choice, and towards that object habitually direct his power”- Edward George Bulwer-Lytton

    Do not short change yourself

Focus your resources; your mental, and physical energies on accomplishing the goal.

Activating the law of concentration is a powerful agent here.

According to the law, As Tracy delineates in his book Million Dollar Habits   (2017), “Whatever you dwell upon grows and expands in your life.”

Thus, to expand your success potential, dwell upon what you want and what you must do to accomplish that goal. Then, take action daily. Repeat this action as long as it takes.

Remember, No one can stand in the path of you achieving excellence, but you have to want it bad enough.

  • Reaffirm your commitment daily

    January 15th, 2019

Establishing or rebuilding habits for success is not an easy task.

One is apt to fail many times before being successful at adopting habits to achieve the goals set.

However, excelling beyond failure requires one to develop a habit of consistently reaffirming your commitments daily.

This becomes extremely necessary If it seems you are establishing an habitual pattern of slipping or failing to do what is necessary to meet the goals you have set for yourself.

Consistent failure to keep a commitment to your self means that it is time for deeper introspection.

Image result for image of deep introspection

It is time to uncover your motives.

Do not be afraid of this process.

A very important step to being successful in any endeavor is examining your why?

Why did you select the goals that you set in the first place?

Why are achieving these things important?

Deliberately take time with your self to determine the purpose behind every goal you set.

Purpose is what fuels tenacity (stick-to-itiveness).

Ensure that one of the primary rationales behind your newly established goals is you.

Don’t do it for anyone else do it for you

Those who are willing to put the most work in are those who have a passionate desire and drive to fulfill that which they have committed to for the sake of their own happiness.

If you don’t have a strong enough why drop the goal because you will never generate enough energy and determination to see it through.

Change comes by desire, not by force.

If you do determine that the goals you have established are driven by purpose and one of those primary purposes is yourself then every day take a few minutes to reaffirm, re-commit and remind yourself of why you are doing it in the first place.

  • Invest for Success

    January 4th, 2019

One thing that links us all is the desire to succeed.

Image result for images on the desire to succeed

Achieving success requires more than a perfunctory desire.

Success is the result of work, or as Sophocles once said, “Success is dependent on effort.” Success requires an investment.

There is no better thing to invest in than in one’s self.

Many struggle with the fact that the achievement of goals is taking a little longer than expected. Thus, Some simply give up. And, when looking at what they have seemingly invested, and what the return has been thus far on efforts given, it all seems hopeless.

.Image result for image quote Success is totally dependent on drive and persistence

Additionally, one must realize that one’s output is directly proportional to one’s input. When looking at long-term gains,  realize that it takes time for investments to mature.

Principles of investing are an excellent way to look at goal setting and achievement. Just as in financial investment, bigger returns require larger investments.

As individuals who seek success, we must recondition ourselves to give more than the minimum; more than the minimum time, energy, and effort.

As Elbert Hubbard once said  “A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success. “

This year to see the results desired from the goals you set I challenge you, every day, to put in a little more effort.

As so eloquently stated by Les Brown, “Make each day count by setting specific goals to succeed, then putting forth every effort to exceed your own expectations.”

  • Resolve to be Resolute

    January 1st, 2019

So it is the New Year and the Holidays are rapidly drawing to an end.

It is a time of reflection while also looking forward.

More importantly, it is a time for setting goals or making resolutions.  However, sadly, many have given up on making resolutions, supporting such decision-making with the familiar argument, “why waste time with something that you’re going to break anyway.” If this is you, I want to challenge you to change your thinking.

    Develop a growth mindset.

Do not make any determinations about your outcomes prematurely. Take a chance and set a goal or two. What can it hurt?

Write down that goal and make the decision to be resolute.

    Be admirably, determined.

Remember that small successes build up to major achievements. But, the first step to any achievement is always setting a goal.

    • So, set goals
    • Every day do something no matter how small.
    • Don’t be afraid to mess up.

Perhaps the goal from the year prior went unfulfilled.

If that is the case, let me let you in on a well-known secret,  no progress is too small.

Image result for images of small steps

Even the smallest amount of progress means that you are that much closer to fulfilling the desired goal. Continue to build on that.

    Everyone deserves success.

You must believe you are worth it!

  • You have to sow it to grow it!

    March 26th, 2018

Image result for image of sowing

Achievement is the result of effort,  dedication, and focus.

    Nothing happens overnight.

Image result for image of nothing happens overnight

    What is sowing?

The process begins with planting a seed and then spending the time to nourish that seed. Image result for What is sowing

The same rule is applicable for growing a gift.

    Growing a gift

Before one can become successful in any endeavor he or she must dedicate the time and effort to grow that gift. One thing is certain,t it is impossible to reap a harvest without sowing seeds.

“As economists like to say, there’s no free lunch. By this, we mean simply that all things we value come at a cost, explicit or implicit” (Frank).

    Every opportunity bears a cost.

Every day, you have an option to do something to move toward progress. That opportunity is a seed, that if sown, produces a harvest.

Choosing to deliberately focus on those things that will contribute to growth is akin to sowing good seeds in fertile ground.

    Good Seeds

Image result for image good seeds

There are 3 important seeds that one must sow in order to excel.

1.Enthusiasm (sunlight)– you have got to be passionate. passion provides the spark that keeps you going.

    2. Self- discipline (good soil) –  You have got to be disciplined. ” You discipline yourself to stay with the task until that task is completed” (Ziglar p. 53).

    3. Persistence(water)– You have got to be committed to doing the things necessary, consistently, to make it happen.

Think about what comes of a flower that is only watered on occasion.

    Related image

Summarily, whatever you determine to do you must do so with enthusiasm,  you must discipline yourself to maintain deliberate and unwavering focus, and you must do so persistently (remain committed to the task at hand).

It is a process, but the end result will always be excellence.

Zig Ziglar relays an excellent example of what can happen when one sows good seeds through the story of the Chinese Bamboo Tree in his book. “Developing The Qualities of Success: How to Stay Motivated Volume I.”

    Related image

“They plant the seed, they water it and they fertilize it—and nothing happens the first year. The second year they water it and they fertilize it and nothing happens. The third year they water it and they fertilize it and nothing happens. The fourth year they water it and they fertilize it, nothing happens. The fifth-year they water it and they fertilize it and sometime during the course of the fifth year, in a period of approximately six weeks, the Chinese bamboo tree grows ninety feet—or thereabout” (p. 115).

As finely illustrated in that story, achievement is the outgrowth of diligence in sowing good seeds.

The only thing standing between you and achievement is deciding to put in the work to make it a reality,.

” We have to get serious about doing things with our lives” (Ziglar p. 51).
