Life can be likened to a giant mathematical equation.
As students, we come.
We all come, and take our seats.
We all must be instructed, for we all enter with limited knowledge.
Some come prepared to learn; anxious and expectant.
While some come unprepared; full of trepidation and angst.
Regardless of how we come, we are all here.
After some time some become loathsome, apathetic, bitter, and forlorn. While some are energized, industrious, and hopeful.
Day after day we sit at the desk seeking.
There are so many parts to the equation. We just don’t know where to start.
There are so many variables that we can’t seem to define them. The harder we try the more lost we get. What we have been taught doesn’t seem to fit. When we apply what we think we know it doesn’t come out right.
We spend most of our lives trying to figure out how to live successfully.
However, we want concrete solutions.
We want quick fixes. We want to know that what we are being taught works. We don’t want maybe’s or possibilities. We don’t want abstractions.
We want proof that there is solution and when that solution is applied we will be 100% satisfied with the result.
If we reason with ourselves ,we know that such expectations are grandiose.
Our world is choked full of gurus, phenom’s, life-coaches, and motivational speakers who provide consultation.
There are variant books on every subject matter; self-help books, self-discovery books, books on excellence, books on achievement, and even a series focused on crash courses, “For dummies.”
There is nothing new, that has not been written thousands of times over in over thousands of publications spanning over centuries and continents.
We are privy to sage advice from philosophers, intellectuals, geniuses, achievers, hall- of-famer’s, inventors, capitalist, scientist, discoverers, poets, ministers, world leaders, politicians, celebrities, world-framers, and over-comers. Information is inexhaustible.
Yet, we still seek.
Why?
I think we already have the answer.
We simply must accept it.
Life is not one size fits all.
There is no formula on how to become successful, that is 100% applicable to all, with a 100% success rate.
- There are principles that govern the world we live in.
- There are truths which are self-evident as is the course of nature, “natural law”.
- There are moral laws which if transgressed bear penalty (consequence)
Otherwise there are no 100% guarantees.
No two people experience life the same.
No one solution will work for everyone in the same manner.
That’s just the way of life.
Life does not occur in a laboratory under fixed conditions.
If it were, that all our conditions such as;
- our environment
- our attributes
- our perspective
- Our upbringing
- our talents
- our abilities
- our outlook
were the same, then perhaps there would be a quick fix solution.
There would be one verifiable formula with one verifiable result; success.
Life does not occur under those conditions.
Life is variant.
Our outcomes are predicated on many variables to include but not the exclusion of ;
- time
- circumstance
- environment
- resource availability
- chance
“I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11
What works today may not work tomorrow.
What works in one state may not in another.
What was an opportunity for one may not be one for you.
What works for you may not work for anyone else.
We have to look at things a bit differently.
We must realize that we do have an answer. It may not be a favorable one. It’s a firm one, and that is,
There is no concrete answer.
It is quite the conundrum for many.
What do we do, do we just give up?
No, we must never give up.
- We have to do our best to be our best.
- We have to give it all we got and then some
- We have to learn all we can
No one knows everything.
We each individually, only know in part, and there are many parts to that whole.
Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
It may take a life-time to put it all together, and that’s okay
We simply need to trust, and have faith.
Life is about trial and error, we learn as we go.
That does not mean we should not seek. That does not mean would should not share.
It means that we need to accept that we don’t live in a one-size fits all world.
Keep on keeping on
We must continue to share, hoping that someone in a similar condition, experiencing life in a similar fashion, will find something that will help them in their experience.
We must continue, hoping that he or she will find comfort, gain fortitude, and become resilient.
Not because we are on any scale greater, but because with hope, opening our book of experience will help someone to continue their life story.
Hoping that if just one will walk away knowing they are not alone on this life journey, we have made a difference.
We are all subject to the human condition.
Nothing separates us from struggle or aspirations. We all have them. We simply experience them differently.
We are all human, no matter what stature we have risen to.
Be encouraged, be inspired
By all means, come and sit at the table, but not expecting to go away without hunger, but rather to go away a little less empty.
We are not here to give the answer; we don’t have one.
You will never find a direct answer, or applicable solution to what ails the whole of humanity.
I and others such as I, are here to inspire, that through our musings one may find solace, guidance, and the push necessary.
That you may live out life to the fullest. That you may have the tools necessary to make the decisions that work for you.
That you may find joy in the process.
