Everyone is a critic and everyone has a critic.

Everyone has an opinion of you, your work, and your goals. Some may be positive and some not so positive. Those views are purely opinion and subjective. Those opinions become criticism when one takes up the mantle to point out  flaws, often without license or permission to do so.

Criticism is ” The act of expressing disapproval and of noting the problems or faults of a person or thing” -Merriam Webster

Such can be disheartening and dredge up wells of emotion.  Though they may be weighty on the conscience they should never cease your movement.

Critique

Insight from outsiders is often an important element of growth and development. The advisement one desires when looking for earnest assessment for growth is a critique.  There is a thin margin between criticism and critique, recognize the difference.

A critique is an honest assessment of your work that forgoes the focus on fault finding. A critique separates the work from the individual. This is what you want.

Dealing with Criticism

Along your journey you will receive a fair amount of criticism, it is just the way of life. Not all things  that come to you as sound advice is  profitable for your progression. Criticism does not  build  up. Criticism is negative and has the potential to destroy.

Never accept criticism, unless it is of a positive nature.

Remember one cannot build up by tearing down. One cannot accrue a profit by consistently making withdrawals. Positivism breads positivism. Negativity spawn negativism.

It is your job to be a diviner of that which is profitable and that which is refuse.

Always know who it is you are getting your advice from. If someone is bent on criticizing rather than critiquing or advising then cut them loose. Either they do not have your interest at heart or they don’t know any better.

Be prepared for any unwarranted criticism you might receive and learn to handle it with grace. Do not let such negativity pour into your spirit.
